Bowls has been played in Corowa since 1900, commencing on the lawn of a private residence. In 1903 Corowa Bowling Club was formed and played in Albert Street, until moving to the pleasant Ball Park from 1933. The then 'newer' Clubhouse was moved by horse drawn cart. In 1967 the Club became Ltd and went under administration in 1996 as a result of financial stress from the introduction of gaming machines in Victoria. Corowa Bowls Club Inc was then formed and subsequently amalgamated with Corowa Services Bowling Club in 2004 until a break in 2013 when the Sports & Citizens Club was closed. The Corowa Civic Bowls Club was then formed in that year for the purpose of keeping bowls at this iconic site for as long as Corowa could support it.
